Lesson Plans
Grade 5: States of Matter and Non-Newtonian fluids Lesson
Outcome MC5.1 - Investigate the characteristics and physical properties of materials in solid, liquid, and gaseous states of matter.
This lesson explores non-Newtonian fluids in an inquiry-based method by using Oobleck as an example for the students to explore. For more information about my experience with this lesson click "read more".
Grade 5: How Does the Skin Work lesson
Outcome HB5.1 - Analyze personal and societal requirements for, and the impact of, maintaining a healthy human body.

This lesson explores the skin by examining how it works and how it helps to protect our body. This lesson can be done as individual or group work.
Grade 5: How Body Systems Work Together lesson
Outcome HB5.3 - Assess how multiple human body systems function together to enable people to move, grow, and react to stimuli.

This lesson uses an interactive computer simulation to show how body systems work together in our body. This lesson can be done as a class or individual student work.
Grade 5: Gravity lesson
Outcome FM5.1 – Analyze the effects of gravitational, magnetic, and mechanical forces, inc. friction, on the movement of objects

This lesson is a hands on group project that is great for introducing gravity to students. To see more about how my experience with this lesson plan, click "read more"
Grade 5: Friction lesson
Outcome FM5.1 - Analyze the effects of gravitational, magnetic, and mechanical forces, including friction, on the movement of objects.

This lesson features 4 (5 optionally) stations that explore friction and the effects it has in our daily lives. To see more on my experience with this lesson, click "read more"
